Kynetec collaborates with Bayer to advance sustainability impact in Agriculture

Announcing our collaboration with the Crop Science division of Bayer AG to support their sustainability progress, using Kynetec’s expert reviewed methodologies.
As outlined in Bayer’s 2024 Sustainability Progress Report, and recently published Method Paper, Kynetec contributed essential data and modeling from our FarmTrak Crop Protection, FarmTrak Seed, and FarmTrak Sustainability farmer panels to help quantify on-field greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and broader environmental impacts associated with the production of agricultural commodities across global agricultural systems.
Kynetec’s role in the project focused on providing up-to-date, country-specific data – based on farm-level surveys weighted by crop area and yield – on the full set of practices, inputs, and agronomic variables required to estimate GHG emissions and removals.
This enabled Bayer to create a robust and transparent baseline for its farming customers and identify potential improvements. This dataset forms the foundation for Bayer’s ongoing efforts to track and reduce emissions within its value chain.

The initiative is part of Bayer’s broader commitment to enable its farming customers to reduce their on-field GHG emissions per unit of crop produced by 30% by 2030 compared to overall base year emission intensity, using a science-based, outcome-oriented approach. The collaboration with Kynetec has been instrumental in creating a first-of-its-kind methodology that links actual farming practices and inputs with sustainability metrics at scale.
